SDPG Academy round 2 preview

SDPG Academy set for Brands Hatch Indy battle

After what was an electrifying round 1 the paddock decends on Kent and the 1.1 mile Indy circuit. With only 6 corners and lap times hovering around the 43/44 second mark this lap is the shortest and most frantic on the whole calendar.

Superbikes

Coming into round 2 all eyes will be on the front trio of Brett, Dylan and Superted. Ted was the first race winner over at Andalucia and sits P3 in the standings. Will the Brands Hatch Indy track favour Ted and the Yamahas style? The 2 CS Autos Ducatis did the business on race day at Andalucia with Dylan winning race 2 and Brett winning race 3. Brett had a solid weekend picking up 2x 2nd places and a win. Consistency is key and that is one thing Brett can rely on. A very consistent rider is the CS Autos Ducati man and I’m sure he will have got a few people worried coming into round 2. It was an unfortunate start to the championship for RD Racing Yamahas Jamie. The bike did not want to play ball over in the Spanish sun. Can he get some points on the board here on British shores. In pathway it was Kristian who did a splendid job to win all 3 races in pathway and take a P2 overall in the final race of the weekend. Charlie had a difficult weekend over seas after running highly in race 1 it didn’t quite pan out for the SDPG Racing Aprilia rider. Is this where he can kickstart a title charge in pathway? Gian also had a nightmare in Spain. The Edenflaw BMW had a lot of technical gremlins meaning it was a struggle for the Italian stallion to make his mark. Coming into this one Arron and the Exact Moves Kawasaki team have done some testing to try and eradicate some issues with the big ZX10 and from reports from the team it sounds positive. We wish them the best of luck this weekend. HPR and Mason Roth had a tricky round 1 picking up 3x 6th place finishes. The factory Honda rider will be looking to build on this coming into round 2. Mason G on the MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha only could make Sunday and Monday so he only picked up 1x P4 finish. He was lying in 3rd and crashed with two corners to go handing it to Dylan in race 1. Mason is unlikely to contest race days this season so it’s unlikely the number 1 plate will be on that bike come the end of the season. Here at Brands Hatch we will see Adam make his debut in Superbikes on the RK BMW pathway machine. Adam has impressed with his performances in the pre season and round 1 for the Ducatis and Supersport hence the call up by the RK BMW squad to join them for the rest of the season

Supersport

In Supersport it’s Kalan leading the way in the championship 7 points ahead of APR Hondas Conner. These two are set to lock horns at Kent circuit but will the likes of Shay, Neil and Mogzy have something to say about that. Shay had an impressive channel debut at round 1 taking 2x P3 finishes and in the first race started at the back of the grid. Will Brands Indy be the place where he takes his first victory? George on the AMI Electrics MV Augusta claimed a P6 and P5 around a track that doesn’t favour the MV. The MV suffers in straight line speed but handles like a dream. Is this the time for George and new teammate Jack to get the MV it’s first podium of the season. Ash makes the move across to the SDPG Racing Suzuki squad for the rest of the season after a difficult start on the team Valley Racing Kawasaki. How will Ash get on at Brands Hatch Indy? MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha will be fielding 3 riders for this event with Logan, Aaron and new boy Jack L stepping into the mix. Can the team have a successful outing at their home round? All these questions will be answered

SDPG Ducati Monster 1200 Cup

Coming into round 2 it’s Kristian who has the championship lead over Conner and Liam in P3. What a round it was at round 1 but who will come out on top in round 2? Conner had a solid start but it wasn’t quite the amount of wins we were expecting. Let’s see if Conner can grab a handful of wins at round 2. Is there going to be a challenge from anyone else at round 2
