In round 2 of the academy it was a double win for home town hero SuperTed
SDPG British Superbikes:
Qualifying:
In qualifying it was Dylan who set the pace like he had done all weekend up to that point with an outright lap record of a 43.676. The CS Autos factory Ducati rider managed to clear the field by 0.366 of a second over superTed in P2 with Ashbys finest Brett on the outside of row 1. Kristian kept up his brilliant start to the season with a P4 in qualifying and once again taking top spot in pathway. A strong showing by Arron on the Exact Moves Kawasaki who managed a P5 in qualifying ahead of Charlie who was rounding out row 2 on the SDPG Racing Aprilia. Gian unfortunately suffered technical issues on the Edenflaw BMW Motorrad machine and didn't make it out for Qualifying and the first race
Race 1:
It was the Ducatis that started strongest with Dylan getting the hole shot with teammate Brett not far behind. Ted had dropped a place but managed to retake P2 on Lap 2 into Paddock Hill Bend. It was Dylan though who was ticking off the laps out front until on lap 11 disaster struck. The Ducati rider tucked the front at turn 1 and crashed out the lead. He managed to pick the bike up and he would end up in P3 for race 1. It was a battle between Ted and Brett that has us glued to our screens with the MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha rider eventually coming out top in this battle taking the win ahead of Brett who was 0.7 seconds behind Ted at the flag. Dylan recovered well to take P3 ahead of the ever impressive Kristian in P4
Race 2:
It was a good start by the Ducatis who managed to once again hold a 1-2. Mason Roth had a great start and was in P3 on lap 1. Ted had a tricky start and dropped back to the middle of the pack during the early laps. Kristian managed to climb up to P3 with Ted on his tail on lap 2. Mason Roth did drop back on the HPR machine whilst Ted and Kristian got the elbows out and fought it out for P3. The 2 CS Autos factory Ducatis were still holding the top spots. Brett was keeping the number 1 of Dylan honest out front. Ted was working hard to try and catch up to the 2 leaders. On lap 7 though Dylan cracked under the pressure that was being put on him by Brett with the number 52 taking a healthy lead going onto lap 8. The race settled down for a few laps with the top 4 of Brett, Ted, Kristian and Dylan circulating and separated by just under 4 seconds. Mason Roth retired on HPR machine on lap 9 with a technical issue. Dylan managed to get up to P3 and nab it from Kristian. Charlie was lying P2 in the pathway class not too far away from Adam who was having a great opening weekend on the RK BMW. Outfront it was Ted piling the pressure on Brett with the gap dropping under 0.7 of a second. Dylan had another tumble on lap 13 handing P3 to Kristian. On lap 16 Ted overshot Druids ever so slightly and he was hounding Ashbys finest for that P1 but it he couldn't make a move on the Ducati and it was Brett that took the win ahead of MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha of Ted with Kristian backing up his incredible first round performance with a P3 and Dylan was in P4. Charlie managed to hold onto P5 on his first outing on the SDPG Racing Honda. Arron in P6 on the Exact moves Kawasaki. Adam in P7 with Gian in P8
Race 3:
In race 3 we had the return of Joey for the HPR team making it 10 riders fighting it out for glory. A good start once again by the Ducatis with Dylan going from P4 on the grid to P2 at turn 1. Brett managed another good start and was P1 off the line and that's where he stayed for a good few laps. A huge crash at turn 1 took out multiple riders and Ted managed to get caught up in that incident and going onto lap 2 he damaged the cape and the R1 by taking a tumble at turn 1. Brett also hit the tarmac towards the end of lap 2. Kristian and Dylan were left to scrap outfront with a fantastic start by Arron who was holding P3. Arron managed to keep it rubber side down in the early laps. Kristian was keeping Dylan honest outfront. Brett was fighting through the pack and on lap 6 he got passed Arron and up to third. Meanwhile SuperTed was Upto P5 after overtaking Adam and Joey in the space of a lap and half. On lap 8 DRAMA!! Once again Dylan had barrel rolled his Ducati in strange accident on the pit straight and with that the RK BMW of Kristian was now leading. Arron was in P3 on the big ZX-10 with Brett in P2. Gian retired on lap 10 with an engine problem for the number 57. Dylan was on the recovery in P4 with Ted in P5. On lap 12 Arron and Dylan came to blows and both of them kissed the tarmac in a nasty looking racing incident. Charlie, Mason Roth and Adam were scraping for P6 with Joey not too far behind. On lap 16 Brett and Kristian Collided with each other meaning Kristian hit the deck and Brett did wait up to give himself a penalty. Whilst all that was going on Ted took the lead on the MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha. It was SuperTed who managed to hang onto the victory in his 50th SDPG start that did take the win ahead of Kristian who had another mega ride to P2 with Brett rounding out a great weekend in P3. In P4 it was Dylan who had a luckless weekend. Charlie had a great weekend and finished P5 just ahead of the second RK BMW of Adam. Mason Roth, Arron and Joey rounded out the rest of the field
AMI Electrics British Supersport:
Qualifying:
Coming into qualifying it was Shay who was setting the pace and qualifying was no different. Shay set a time of 44.619 to take pole position in the AMI Electrics British Supersport class with Conner on the APR Honda of Conner in P2 with championship leader Kalan on the MLD Motorsport Yamaha. We had two newbies on the grid for the supersport class at Brands Hatch Indy with Jack E on the AMI Electrics MV Augusta team and Jack L (AKA Lighty) on the MOLTED SFB Electrical Yamaha
Sprint race:
Drama even before the race with Kalan getting pushed off the grid along with several other riders in a bizarre start to the days action. With this Liam on the other APR Honda was promoted to row 1 in P3. Logan had a great start from row 2 took the lead into druids with Conner hitting the deck on the exit of druids. 3 riders crashed at Paddock Hill Bend Logan and Liam involved in the same incident and Jack E who was in P2 at the time crashed on the exit of Paddock Hill. With all this going on Shay hit the front ahead of teammate Neil in P2 and front row Joe in P3. Scott was in P4 and not far off the podium. There was a 4 way battle for P3 involving Joe, Scott, Liam and Logan. Unfortunately the latter tucked the front at Druids and crashed out of the podium scrap. Scott managed to take P3 for it to then be robbed out of his hands by Liam who was having a strong recovery ride. Lap 7 and it was still the satellite MLD machines 1 and 2. Conner was fighting back through the order in P6. Jack L was having a great debut and improving his times on every lap. Scott made a mistake with a few laps to go and dropped to P6 which assisted Conner in gaining a few more positions and back up to P4. Shay though took a fantastic win by over 6 seconds ahead of Neil and Liam round out the podium.
Feature race:
Before race 2 though it was Shay who suffered mechanical issues again with a bunch of others before the start. With this news front row Joe nearly lived up to his name in his final supersport race and started P4. Kalan was starting from the back of the grid with the aim of damage limitation. Half the grid were in the gravel at turn 1 helping Kalan go from P9 up to P4. Neil had a huge crash at turn 1 on lap 2 promoting Kalan up to P3. Jack E was making great progress and was up to P2 and fighting Liam out front in the battle for P1. Conner was struggling in the early stages getting caught up in the turn 1 incident. Haydn had a great opening 5 laps and was running in a brilliant P4 on the HPR machine. On lap 8 Liam crashed at Paddock Hill Bend giving Jack E the lead and P2 to Kalan. Liam managed to keep P3 and was hunting down the top 2. Conner managed to get up to P4 passed Haydn and for Conner that would be as far up as he got. Jack was doing such a good job out front 2.3 seconds to the good but on lap 16 Jack slipped off the MV at the Clark curve and he was only 0.7 seconds behind Kalan. Lap 19 Jack and Kalan were ready to scrap. At Graham Hill Bend they came to blows with Jack crashing and giving the win to Kalan on the MLD Motorpsort Yamaha. But it was the championship leader that managed to hold onto the win Kalan took the win ahead of Liam who was a beneficiary of the Jack and Kalan incident. Jack did manage a P3 and the first podium of the season for the MV Augusta outfit. Conner managed another P4 with Neil grabbing P5 ahead of Haydn. Joe, Scott and Jack L rounded out the runners and riders
SDPG Ducati Monster 1200 Cup:
Qualifying:
In qualifying for the Ducatis it was Conner that took pole with a 44.785 ahead of championship leader Kristian who did a 44.803 and rounding out the front row was Adam who had a great weekend. He managed a lap time of 44.878. Liam, Corey and Scott were on row 2
Race:
A wet race for the Ducatis would throw another challenge at the riders. Half of the grid again hit the deck at turn 1. Kristian was the one who grabbed the hole shot ahead of Liam who attacked for the lead at Druids and then he crashed at the very next corner. Onto lap 2 and 5 bike scrap for the lead including the two championship rivals. It was quite a calm race until lap 5 where Conner and Kristian were engaged in a battle that were having us on the edge of our seats. Adam was also in the battle and was waiting for any slip up from the front 2. Conner was leading at half race distance. Another thing the top 3 would have to contend with was back markers. Conner started to pull away from the 2 behind him. At the chequered flag it was indeed the number 9 if Conner who took the top spot ahead of Kristian and Adam rounding out the podium. A special mention to Josh who had his debut round with us and made some great progress.
Rider of the round:
My rider of the round was Jack E who has a great weekend on the AMI Electeics MV Augusta
